The House Committee on the Judiciary opened an investigation into the George Soros-funded Arlington County Commonwealth’s attorney on Monday.
The notice told the Virginia prosecutor, Parisa Dehghani-Tafti, that the committee will be conducting oversight over her jurisdiction for allegedly refusing to “cooperate with federal immigration officials and their prioritization of illegal and criminal aliens over American citizens.” (RELATED: Illegal Migrant Carjacker Attacks Wrong Dad. The letter also requested information from the office regarding its “sanctuary policies, which ultimately endanger the communities you serve.”
Dehghani-Tafti began her first term in 2017 and secured a second term, which will end in 2027, according to her bio on the Arlington County website.
During her first election, Dehghani-Tafti reportedly received more than $515,000 in donations from The Justice and Public Safety PAC, funded by leftist billionaire and Democratic campaign funder George Soros, according to ARLnow.
To secure her second term, Dehghani-Tafti received an additional $295,000 from the same PAC, ARLnow reported.

The committee said that throughout her tenure, her office has “routinely undermined the rule of law under the guise of safeguarding the public,” including policies that protected undocumented Dreamers and framed resolutions to avoid deportation.
“You also appear to have weaponized your office to give preferential treatment to aliens based solely on their immigration status,” the committee said. “You previously committed to ‘take immigration status into consideration when making charging decisions on minor infractions’ so aliens can avoid ‘collateral consequences,’ and your office has trained its employees ‘on the effects of criminal prosecution on immigration status.’”
However, Dehghani-Tafti’s bio says that she aims for both safety and justice, noting that her primary responsibility is to treat “crime as crime and people as people.”
Referring specifically to the legal system’s disproportionate impact on “people of color,” her office says she is committed to “highlighting, addressing, and reversing” such disparities by turning values into policies.
The committee continued its notice by detailing the case of one criminal illegal alien, Luzvin Orvando Garcia Moran, whom Dehghani-Tafti allegedly offered a plea deal after he allegedly assaulted a group of juveniles before stealing an officer’s stun gun in 2025.

Months later, the notice says Garcia Moran, who already had a rap sheet of arrests, was offered a plea deal and released back onto the street, where he allegedly assaulted a woman and was charged with the “abduction of a person with intent to defile, sodomy by force or victim helplessness[,] and assault” in an alleged attempted rape.
Before the plea deal, a probation officer had warned that Garcia Moran was likely to resume such actions and would pose a possible “danger to self and others.” However, the officer’s warning was ignored, according to the committee.
Locals have begun to speak up against Dehghani-Tafti’s alleged preferential treatment of illegal immigrant criminals, including Virginians for a Safer Community, which documents similar plea deals from Dehghani-Tafti, and has said that “Luckily for criminal aliens, Arlington, VA Soros DA Parisa Dehghani-Tafti doesn’t convict anyone very much.”
Republican Ohio Rep. and committee chairman Jim Jordan had also subpoenaed Dehghani-Tafti in March for allegedly ignoring threats against White House Deputy Chief of Staff for Policy Stephen Miller and his family.
Jordan accused her of “stymying the investigation” on behalf of left-wing agitators within the county.
Dehghani-Tafti joins Steve Descano, the neighboring Fairfax County commonwealth’s attorney, who is being similarly investigated by the Justice Department’s Civil Rights Division, also for alleged preferential treatment of illegal immigrants.
Parisa Dehghani-Tafti’s office did not respond to the Daily Caller’s request for comment.
