DOJ Crushes Hamas Cryptocurrency Pipeline, Seizes $560K and Recruitment Network [WATCH]

The U.S. Department of Justice announced this week that federal investigators seized approximately $560,000 in cryptocurrency allegedly intended to support Hamas and took control of websites and computer servers the terrorist organization was using for fundraising and online recruitment, as reported by Fox Business.

The operation was announced by Jeanine Pirro, U.S. attorney for the District of Columbia, who said the seizures targeted financial and online infrastructure connected to Hamas and its military wing, the Al Qassam Brigades.

“A message to Hamas: We will stop your fundraising for terror,” Pirro said in a statement. “Your networks are not secure, your crypto is vulnerable, and we will not stop until your ability to wage war is defeated.”

In a video posted on X, Pirro described the operation as a “massive blow against foreign terrorism” and said the effort would interfere with Hamas’ ability to recruit supporters online.

“By seizing their servers and their domains, we were able to directly intercept money that was going to be used by the military wing of Hamas, the Al Qassam Brigade,” she said.

Pirro also said investigators obtained information that could identify thousands of people who attempted to financially support Hamas.

“And to add a little more interest to this, we also now have the names and identities of thousands of individuals who tried to give money to Hamas that we were able to intercept,” she continued.

The investigation began after federal authorities identified a group chat on an encrypted communications platform that claimed connections to Hamas.

According to federal court documents, the group chat directed supporters toward a fundraising website and provided a rotating collection of cryptocurrency addresses for donations.

Prosecutors said investigators relied on information obtained from multiple human sources on three occasions — March 25, June 25 and Oct. 10, 2025 — to identify, trace and seize approximately $560,000 in cryptocurrency allegedly intended for Hamas’ Al Qassam Brigades.

The FBI also used information from human sources to identify websites and servers that were allegedly being used by the group. After federal authorities took control of that infrastructure, investigators were able to intercept cryptocurrency donations that were allegedly being sent to Hamas.

The Justice Department said the investigation also produced information involving thousands of individuals who allegedly contacted Hamas online in an effort to donate or attempt to donate money to the organization.

That information is expected to become part of the FBI’s continuing counterterrorism work.

The operation comes as federal authorities continue efforts to disrupt the financial networks used by terrorist organizations. Cryptocurrency has become one of the methods examined by investigators because digital transactions can move funds across international borders and through online networks.

The DOJ said the latest seizures were intended not only to take cryptocurrency out of Hamas’ possession but also to interfere with the organization’s ability to recruit and radicalize individuals online.

Assistant Attorney General for National Security John A. Eisenberg said the operation directly targeted resources Hamas relies upon.

“These seizures deprive Hamas of resources it relies on to recruit and radicalize individuals online and finance barbaric attacks like the one on October 7, 2023,” Eisenberg said.

Federal authorities said they intend to continue pursuing Hamas-linked online fundraising and recruitment networks.

“We will continue to tighten the vise on Hamas’s capacity for terror by infiltrating its online networks, confiscating its cryptocurrency, and shutting down its websites,” Eisenberg added.

Pirro’s announcement also highlighted the broader investigative value of the operation.

In addition to the cryptocurrency seized and the online infrastructure taken under federal control, investigators reportedly obtained identifying information concerning thousands of individuals who allegedly attempted to send funds to Hamas.

The Justice Department said the information gathered through the investigation will be used as part of the FBI’s ongoing counterterrorism efforts.

The operation demonstrates the increasing focus by federal investigators on digital fundraising and online recruitment as part of efforts to disrupt terrorist organizations.

Rather than limiting investigations to traditional financial institutions, authorities are also tracing cryptocurrency transactions, monitoring online networks, and pursuing the infrastructure used to solicit donations.
