WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
  • Navarro says China acquired hundreds of millions of voter files.
  • He says the data could be used to build detailed voter profiles.
  • Navarro raised concerns about absentee ballot procedures in Georgia.
  • O’Reilly questioned whether China was directly connected to those irregularities.

Peter Navarro raised concerns about China’s ability to influence American elections, telling Bill O’Reilly that Chinese interests acquired hundreds of millions of voter files that could be used to build detailed profiles of American voters.

Navarro framed the issue primarily as one of capability, arguing that collecting massive amounts of voter data could give a foreign adversary valuable information about where people vote, how frequently they participate, and other behavioral patterns.

“It’s about capabilities to influence elections. One of the big things they did was they bought several 100 million voter files, so they gathered data on people about and knowing where they would vote, how often they vote, and things like that,” Navarro said.

O’Reilly immediately pressed Navarro on where China obtained that information.

“Who did they buy it from?” O’Reilly asked.

Navarro responded that the information could be acquired publicly.

“You can do that publicly,” Navarro said.

O’Reilly then sought to clarify Navarro’s argument that Beijing had assembled detailed information about American voters.

“So, China and Beijing…” O’Reilly said.

“Yes,” Navarro replied.

“… they assembled a voter profile,” O’Reilly said.

Navarro confirmed the point.

“They have a whole voter profile,” Navarro said.

O’Reilly then asked what happened after the data was collected.

“Okay. Then what happened?” O’Reilly asked.

Navarro said the voter files represented one possible avenue of influence, but acknowledged that he could not say what China ultimately did with the information.

“So that’s one way. We don’t know what they did with that, but we do know that there was a lot of absentee ballot fraud, which at the time we could not detect,” Navarro said.

He then turned to Georgia, describing the state as a decisive battleground and focusing on absentee ballot procedures.

“I mean, one of the things that was done in the Peach State, Georgia, was a pivotal battleground state that we lost. 12,000 votes,” Navarro said.

Navarro claimed that signature verification procedures for absentee ballots were effectively removed, resulting in fewer ballots being rejected.

“What they did was take away signature verification, essentially. So people who would send in their absentee ballots? They stopped checking the signatures, right?” Navarro said.

He said the rejection rate for absentee ballots fell dramatically.

“And so they went from a 6% rejection rate of absentee ballots based on phony signatures to less than 1%,” Navarro said.

According to Navarro, that change occurred while absentee voting increased significantly and those ballots heavily favored Joe Biden.

“At the same time, the number of their absentee ballots, which were overwhelmingly pro-Biden, just went off the charts,” Navarro said.

O’Reilly challenged Navarro on the connection between those alleged problems in Georgia and China, pointing out that the claims involving ballot procedures appeared to be a local issue rather than evidence of direct Chinese involvement.

“But how is China involved with that? That sounds like a Fulton County problem,” O’Reilly said.

Navarro acknowledged that the connection was unclear and said that was precisely the unresolved issue.

“That’s what we don’t know, Bill, because we can’t get to the bottom of that. But they were developing the capabilities,” Navarro said.
