Let me be clear: unlike Adam, I firmly believe that, in a court of law, people are innocent until proven guilty. I’m not a fan of people deciding who they want to destroy and then constructing a case out of thin air. 

As I said, unlike Adam. 

On the other hand, the man is guilty as sin. I don’t say that as a juror, but as an ordinary citizen who has long recognized that this guy smells worse than my shoe after walking through a sewer, and apparently he doesn’t deny that he placed trades on whether or not he would get a pardon. He flat-out admits it.

A top federal financial regulator is investigating former Republican Rep. Adam Kinzinger — an outspoken critic of President Donald Trump — for prediction market trades he made tied to his pardon by former President Joe Biden, according to three people with knowledge of the probe.

The Commodity Futures Trading Commission, a derivatives regulator that has been asserting a large role in prediction market oversight, has been looking at trades that a Kalshi account linked to Kinzinger made in December 2024 and January 2025, said the people, granted anonymity to discuss matters candidly. Kalshi, which touts its monitoring of insider trading on political events, has also been reviewing the transactions, said the people.

Kinzinger retired from Congress in 2023. In January 2025, in Biden’s final hours as president, he preemptively pardoned Kinzinger and other members of the House select committee that had investigated the Jan. 6, 2021, attack on the Capitol after Trump had called for them to be jailed.

In a statement, Kinzinger said he made trades related to his presidential pardon but added that they were in accordance with what he perceived to be Kalshi’s rules at the time. He also said he had no inside information related to whether he would receive a pardon.

“I was not a congressman or candidate, and had been out of office for two years, and had no inside information,” Kinzinger said.

“I had read [the] rules of Kalshi before making wagers, and general prohibitions were that you could not work for a source agency, … influence its outcome, or have non-public information about it,” he added. “I felt confident in this because I had never had a conversation with anyone about [the pardons], much less anyone anywhere near the White House.”

Kinzinger said in an interview that he placed wagers on a contract on whether he would receive a presidential pardon and a separate contract on whether Biden would issue preemptive pardons toward the end of his term.

Do you believe Adam? I sure don’t. 

Kinzinger was close with the people in the crowd who ran the autopen, and they made him into a hoaxing hero. It beggars belief that he had NO inside information.

Now, common sense, my intuition, and $7 will get you a Pumpkin Spice Latte these days, and not a conviction and jail sentence for Kinzinger, but Mr. Clean here BET ON WHETHER HE WOULD GET A PARDON FROM THE AUTOPEN PRESIDENT. 

This fact doesn’t square with the image Adam likes to project. At best, he did the Nancy Pelosi “you can’t prove I engaged in insider trading, and if you look at the rules while doing handstands and squinting, you can see the loophole I waltzed through. 

Do I sound a bit catty here? Like I am enjoying a bit of schadenfreude? 

You bet I am. Kinzinger is one of the scummiest guys in politics. You could name an award for worst fake tears in politics and name it after him. He has always been as convincing in his act as AOC crying outside a parking lot.

Some politicians are open sleazebags, and you almost admire them in the way you marvel at a slick con man, wondering how they get away with their shtick. Rod Blagojevich was in that category. Wheeler dealer-types. 

Then there are the Liz Cheney/Adam Kinzinger types who trade off a fake image of moral probity. I never felt much one way or another when Blagojevich got taken down because…well, he never pretended much to be a saint. It’s the fake saints you take joy in seeing exposed. 

Kinzinger is very much in that category. He created an image of being a martyr, a saint, one of the truly incorruptible ones. 

And now? He placed bets on whether he would get an autopen pardon, and probably cheated while doing so. 

So scummy. I hope he fries.
