It’s almost as if this should just be added to the burgeoning checklist of oopsies for Democrat candidates when they file to run; it’s become so common.

The list of sleazy characters who have been tripped up in the past year alone by their way-too-clever mortgage deals to save a little cha-ching on taxes or interest rates, or both, is long and undistinguished.

A few notable examples:

Adam Shifty Schiff

🚨 FOX: ADAM SCHIFF IS UNDER CRIMINAL INVESTIGATION FOR MORTGAGE FRAUD 🚨

Maryland U.S. Attorney’s Office.

The allegation:

He told the bank the Potomac house was his primary residence.

He was a California congressman.

He took the homestead tax break in Burbank too.

…FHFA Director Bill Pulte sent the referral.

Fannie Mae’s financial crimes shop called it a pattern of occupancy misrepresentation across multiple loans.

Schiff denies it.

No charges announced.

Investigation is not a conviction.

But the man who spent years lecturing America about “process crimes” is now the subject.

There was New York Attorney General Letitia James with singed fingers after getting caught in two separate cases of fancy paperwork for properties in New York City and Norfolk, Virginia.

“SHE PROBABLY FIGURED BIDEN WAS GOING TO WIN REELECTION AND THAT NOBODY WOULD CATCH HER.”@SamAntar lays out for @stinchfield1776 what he uncovered while looking into Letitia James’ mortgage fraud. “The investigation is insane! Every single mortgage has false information.” pic.twitter.com/i0yynAIrsQ

Sleazy Eric Swalwell

WHY IS EVERYBODY ALWAYS PICKIN’ ON ME?

Swalwell drops lawsuit against FHFA’s Pulte as California governor race heats up

Rep. Eric Swalwell, D-Calif., has dropped his lawsuit against Bill Pulte which accused the director of the Federal Housing Finance Agency of weaponizing mortgage fraud investigations to target critics of President Donald Trump.

Swalwell — a California gubernatorial candidate — filed the lawsuit in November, arguing that Pulte unlawfully accessed and disclosed his private mortgage records in violation of federal privacy law and the First Amendment’s “bedrock prohibition on viewpoint-based retaliation.”

“Director Pulte has combed through private records of political opponents. To silence them,” Swalwell posted in a statement at the time on X.

…Pulte had referred Swalwell to the Department of Justice over claims that the congressman may have made false or misleading statements in loan documents for a Washington home. Swalwell called the claims “patently false.”

I mean, it just goes on and on with these people, and it would be nice if, had it been a peasant like you or me, someone went to jail. But at least they had to hire expensive lawyers and experience a little taste of what Democrats have done to Republicans for years – the process IS the punishment.

Bathed in the knowledge that mortgages are now an object of scrutiny, much as beating wives or girlfriends or inclinations to embracing Nazi memorabilia in any of its forms, you would think that prospective candidates for office and those who bless them out of hand might do a bit of vetting before waving the magic wand and declaring ‘this is our guy.’

Maine Dem Senate pick Troy Jackson attacked romantic rival, ‘pushed around’ girlfriend Lana Pelletier in 1988: police report https://t.co/jGAmrE8VQZ pic.twitter.com/FaJXGPTLcF

Guess not.

Seems the colorful lumberjack fellow cohabitating with a remotely related relative who may or may not have been a little rough with her at one time or another (now, I am talking about someone other than Der Oysterführer although certain details can strike you as familiar) who was tapped to replace the charmless, bare-chested Graham goon also has a mortgage paper trail problem.

GET OUTTA DODGE!

Nope. I’m serious.

And the excuse is the same – ‘didn’t read it.’

Troy Jackson, the DSA Dem running against Republican Susan Collins, bought an Augusta house in 2019 with a federally insured FHA loan.

He initialed the page that says the house would be his principal residence within 60 days — and stay that way for at least a year.

Then he told… pic.twitter.com/KrBpvKTc7o

— Steve Robinson (@SteveRob) September 14, 2026

Then he told the Ethics Commission, over and over, that he lived in Allagash.

Now he’s saying that he only bought the house as a storage unit — effectively admitting (again) that he committed mortgage fraud.

FHA loans are for people buying a first home, a home that is meant to be lived in full-time. Jackson, as a socialist, should have understood that he was taking advantage of an anti-poverty program — literally taking a home away from a middle class Mainer — to get his storage unit.

The contract language is not Ancient Greek:

“I will occupy the Property and use the Property as my principal residence within 60 days… I will continue to occupy the Property… for at least one year.”

Jackson signed it. He initialed the occupancy page. Then he flipped the profit for a nice Covid Era capital gain. And he’s spent the last three years bellowing that he never occupied the house.

As those intrepid sleuths at The Maine Wire revealed in 2023, a lawsuit by Jackson and his second cousin girlfriend filed against the people they’d purchased the house from in 2019 was already raising questions about his residency – he was a state senator – and the home’s occupancy even then.

Documents signed in several places conflicted, including the mortgage documents and campaign filings.

Oh, hello.

…The longtime Maine lawmaker and his girlfriend, Lana M. Pelletier, are suing Paul R. and Jane R. Godbout, 65, alleging that the couple committed fraud by concealing defects with the North Belfast Ave. house during the sale.

…Beyond the real estate dispute, the court records and mortgage documents raise the question of whether Jackson, who has served as Senate President throughout his squabble with the Godbouts, actually lives in the Aroostook County district he represents.

Maine’s Constitution requires members of the State Legislature to reside within their districts.

However, in the mortgage agreement Jackson signed for the Augusta house in 2019, the top Democrat lawmaker swore it would become his primary residence for at least a year.

Information in the court documents also conflicts with several statements to which Jackson has signed his name elsewhere, including campaign filings with the Maine Ethics Commission, reimbursement requests submitted to the Maine Legislature, and an insurance claim Jackson filed for damages to the house.

Jackson did not respond to an email requesting comment for this story.

Jackson is another standout intellect on that deep-thinking Dem bench.

Well that bodes well for him reading actual legislation.

So how on earth did this slip through when the Maine Democratic Party chose Jackson to be their U.S. Senate nominee over, well, this guy?

NEW: Democrat Maine Senate candidate Ashley Webb says he would produce “a mucus” while discussing his alleged “cycle.”

The comment came as Webb was telling a bizarre story about how his birth records got “destroyed.”

I don’t get it.

Anyway, the national media is already doing what they can do to clean Jackson up.

TROY’S A LUMBERJACK AND THAT’S OKAY

Earlier this summer, Troy Jackson, a 58-year-old former logger and president of Maine’s state Senate, replaced Graham Platner as the Democratic Senate nominee running against Susan Collins, the Republican incumbent. …Jackson accepted the nomination at a convention in Bangor, “though on the campaign trail, he can occasionally sound as if he wishes he hadn’t,” Jesús Rodríguez writes. Read Rodríguez’s report from Maine, where Jackson is trying to win over both people who voted for Platner in the primary and those who voted for Donald Trump in 2024:

Barf.

This is going to be another gloss-over-it speed bump, and Susan Collins has to be giggling delicately in her iced tea.

What the heck is going on in Maine?

— My moms caregiver (@mymomcare) August 13, 2026

I don’t know, but I sure hope they keep doing it.

Pretty much looks like they’ve got it down pat.
