A disturbing scene unfolded in Tacoma, Washington, when a pregnant woman was savagely attacked by two loose dogs while trying to rescue her Chihuahua from their jaws.

The brutal assault left her covered in bite wounds and forced doctors to induce labor after concerns about possible infection to her unborn child.

Authorities say Renee Wilson, who was heavily pregnant at the time, was hospitalized after the horrifying incident early Thursday morning.

Officers responding to reports of loose dogs on Puget Sound Avenue at about 1 a.m. found Wilson screaming for help and bleeding from multiple wounds.

She had been mauled by what were later identified as an American pit bull terrier and an American bully.

Wilson’s quick-thinking act to protect her small dog nearly cost her and her baby their lives.

One of the larger dogs latched onto her abdomen, prompting doctors later to induce labor as a precaution.

The attack left her with serious injuries to her arm, thigh, leg, and head, as well as deep punctures across her abdomen.

After being stabilized, Wilson was transferred to Tacoma General Hospital, where she gave birth to her son, Armani.

Despite the trauma, both mother and baby survived.

Wilson told reporters that she believed she and her baby could have died if help had not arrived when it did.

“I don’t know who the owners are of the dogs, but I could have lost my life, and so could my son,” Wilson told K5 News.

“And then I have three other children that need me, so it’s just an unfortunate, messed up situation.”

Wilson described being dragged to the ground by her hair as she screamed for help that did not come immediately.

“It kept latching back on after it would bite me, so it bit my arm, then jumped back up and attacked my belly,” she said.

By the time emergency responders arrived, the vicious animals had to be contained.

She was quickly transported to the hospital for emergency care.

Doctors acted fast after noticing puncture wounds to her stomach area, deciding it was safest to deliver the baby right away.

Wilson’s son was born healthy, but the new mother is now fighting a new set of medical complications.

She developed cellulitis and a methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus infection, better known as MRSA.

The recovery process has been difficult. Wilson remains under hospital care and has been undergoing physical therapy after losing mobility in her right leg.

“Well, he’s only 4 days old, so I’m kind of lonely. I miss him,” she said.

“I wish I was able to be with him. I wish he was able to be here.”

Her newborn is staying at the hospital under close supervision until doctors are confident his mother can safely reunite with him.

Animal Control responded shortly after the incident and successfully captured the two dogs responsible for the attack.

Tacoma Animal Control Officer Brittany Kirsch reported that the dogs have been impounded and will be euthanized due to the severity of the incident.

Neighbors in the area expressed their frustration that such dangerous dogs were running loose in the first place.

It is still unclear whether the dogs’ owners will face charges, but residents have called for stricter enforcement on dangerous breeds and penalties for careless owners.

This violent attack once again exposes a common problem across cities with weak enforcement of leash and containment laws.

While bureaucrats push regulations on law-abiding citizens, they often fail to act until tragedies like this occur.

A pregnant mother fighting for her life should not have to pay for that negligence.

Wilson’s ordeal serves as a frightening reminder that public safety must come before endless red tape.

Washington state’s soft approach to animal control has now cost a family immeasurable pain.

Conservative voices have long warned that lack of accountability, whether with criminals or irresponsible pet owners, only leads to more danger in communities.

For now, the focus remains on Wilson’s recovery and her hopeful reunion with baby Armani.

Her bravery under such terrifying circumstances stands in stark contrast to the failure of the system meant to protect people like her.

It should not take a mother’s blood in the street to get the authorities to take this problem seriously.
