British rock legend Rod Stewart gave fans a scare during his Friday night concert in Utah when he suddenly appeared unwell mid-performance.

The 81-year-old was forced to stop the show briefly after nearly fainting onstage, as reported by The Gateway Pundit.

The incident took place at the Utah First Credit Union Amphitheater in West Valley City, just outside Salt Lake City.

According to TMZ, which first reported the story, Stewart was seen clutching stage equipment for balance while singing before signaling for help.

Here’s What They’re Not Telling You About Your Retirement

A crew member quickly brought over an oxygen tank, placing the mask on Stewart’s face as the crowd looked on. Video captured the moment fans began to applaud and cheer while the singer inhaled deeply from the tank.

Audience members described the scene as tense but supportive, with many calling out encouragement as Stewart steadied himself. His quick recovery and sense of humor quickly won the crowd back.

Once he regained his composure, Stewart reportedly smiled and announced, “The show must go on,” drawing loud cheers from the audience.

Witnesses said he remained seated for the rest of the performance, tapping his foot and singing while taking it easy after the health scare. His ability to finish the show despite the momentary setback earned admiration from fans and crew alike.

Video footage shared by TMZ also showed several backstage attendants rushing to assist him, underscoring the seriousness of the brief medical episode. Those present said he looked determined to continue as soon as he was able.

Observers noted that Stewart even joked with the audience about “dang near fainting,” demonstrating his trademark wit and good-natured spirit in the face of an unsettling moment.

This near collapse happened about a week after Stewart canceled another performance at the last minute because of health reasons. Despite that, he was later spotted attending a World Cup match and enjoying refreshments.

As one of rock’s most enduring figures, Stewart has continued to perform well into his eighth decade, maintaining a demanding tour schedule while still connecting with audiences across generations.

His performance in Utah was another example of his dedication to fans who have followed him through decades of chart-topping success.

Fans online reacted with concern and admiration after reports surfaced, praising his resilience and professionalism. Many noted that his decision to finish the set showed both old-school toughness and care for his audience.

Despite the brief health scare, Stewart’s message — “the show must go on” — perfectly captured the spirit that has defined his long career and the enduring energy of rock and roll.
