Democrat socialist Darializa Avila Chevalier is already causing ripples inside her own party before even setting foot in Congress.

The Mamdani backed radical, fresh off her primary victory over establishment Democrat Rep. Adriano Espaillat in New York’s 13th district, says she has not decided whether she will back Hakeem Jeffries for Speaker of the House.

That hesitation is giving party insiders anxiety about how far left their own ranks are drifting.

In an interview with PIX11’s Dan Mannarino, Avila Chevalier admitted she has not spoken to Jeffries and remains “undecided.”

She added her first vote in Congress “will set the tone for the kind of leadership that this district will have,” and that she will make that decision only “with the considerations of the community in mind.”

It was classic socialist jargon designed to sound thoughtful while signaling independence from party leadership.

Avila Chevalier also showed up on Joy Reid’s weekend show to double down on her hesitation.

She repeated that she intends to “consult constituents” before making her decision on whether to support Jeffries if Democrats retake the majority.

According to her, “It’s not a question about how any one individual feels personally.”

Jeffries, who leads House Democrats, seemed unimpressed by this new self styled crusader.

Asked on CNBC’s “Squawk Box” about Avila Chevalier’s victory, he said, “Her views are clearly not my views, and that should be obvious to everyone in terms of what brings Democrats together.”

That statement reveals just how wary party leaders are of this next generation of hard left candidates.

What makes this split particularly inconvenient for Democrats is timing.

They are already scrambling to present a united front ahead of the next session, and now a bloc of self declared socialists is signaling they may withhold support for the party’s top figure.

While at Columbia University, she co founded a student group that publicly declared it was fighting for the “total eradication of Western civilization.”

She has also called to abolish Immigration and Customs Enforcement and said that “all deportations are wrong.”

Those kinds of comments might play well among Manhattan’s activist class, but they are political dynamite in swing districts.

The irony is that the same Democratic Party that once prided itself on discipline and message control is now struggling to contain its own flame throwers.

As the left moves further into socialist fantasy land, the establishment elites look increasingly powerless to rein them in. Jeffries, who tried to brand himself as a pragmatic alternative to Nancy Pelosi, now faces rebellion from within his own state.

This new breed of self styled revolutionaries thrives on confrontation with leadership.

They treat party discipline as an obstacle, not an asset.

Avila Chevalier’s uncertainty over her first major vote is not a sign of principle; it is a warning that the socialist tail is starting to wag the Democratic dog.

If she and other DSA candidates refuse to fall in line, it will send a clear message about which side truly runs the show.

It is telling that Avila Chevalier’s backer, New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani, is himself a loud advocate for socialist policies that would reshape the economy through government seizure and redistribution.

Mamdani’s influence has turned several city primaries into breeding grounds for far left candidates eager to push Marxist aligned ideology under the banner of “equity.” Avila Chevalier is his latest success story.

For Republicans, this kind of division among Democrats is political gold. Every snub, every refusal to endorse Jeffries, highlights the radicalization of their base.

While conservative voters are rallying behind a message of secure borders, energy independence, and American pride, Democrats are busy arguing over how quickly to dismantle Western civilization.

Avila Chevalier, now 32, has made clear she intends to bring her brand of activism to Capitol Hill.

If she follows through, Jeffries and his team will have a problem: managing a member who loves the spotlight but loathes compromise.

Her “undecided” position on the speakership is not indecision at all; it is a calculated move by a socialist upstart who knows her party is too weak to challenge her.
