I don’t really know how many Sympathy for the Devil pieces I have done, but the latest Mamdani outrage definitely fits.
Our favorite anarcho-tyranny communist wanted everybody to know how upset he is that a prisoner at Rikers Island died in the tender care of the prison. It was a moving message to sway the sympathies of the young and stupid.
Either his team did not bother to look into why the guy was in Riker’s in the first place—bad.
Or.
They did, and he posted his condolences anyway—worse. https://t.co/V3xEmyyrGz— Maud Maron (@MaudMaron) August 28, 2026
Mamdani was clearly very sad about Clarence Woodward’s passing. He was a model citizen whose only flaw was that he was a violent man with 30 arrests on his rap sheet and was awaiting trial for a truly gruesome, unprovoked murder in a laundromat.
He’d been out after a stint in state prison for only about a month when police said Woodward randomly attacked Miranda and another man at around 2:40 a.m. inside the business, which was open 24/7.
The homeless parolee first stabbed Jose Miranda, who was sitting in a chair, multiple times in the legs, torso and back, leaving him mortally wounded, police said.
He then attacked the second victim, a 47-year-old homeless man who had been sleeping inside the laundromat, stabbing him in the legs and torso, according to cops.
Poor Woodward never had a chance. He was probably upset that a stain didn’t come out in the wash. Who wouldn’t take that out on a random stranger?
Who wouldn’t sympathize with this man? And why would you mention the family of the man he killed?
A father of two was hacked to death with a meat cleaver after his killer was repeatedly paroled.
And you think the real villain is the jail?

I am deeply saddened by the death of a New Yorker in City custody at a jail on Rikers Island early this morning. My thoughts are with his family and loved ones as they grieve this loss.
We do not yet know the cause of death, but we do know that too many New Yorkers have died on Rikers Island. The Department of Correction and its oversight partners will investigate the circumstances surrounding his death.
Our administration is fully committed to the critical work of creating better conditions in our city’s jail system and closing Rikers Island as quickly as possible.
Still, the family of the victim was not amused and seemed to have little sympathy for Woodward, proving Mamdani was right to extend his sympathies for the death of a man the system failed to look out for.
Woodward was “a New Yorker in City custody.” His victims were not, so who cares about them?
If he didn’t express sympathy for the Devil, nobody would. Few people care about the working class as much as Zohran Mamdani, and clearly a guy with two meat cleavers was working on something somewhere.
To the family of victim Jose Miranda, the mayor’s statement was “a slap in the face.”
“It’s terrible,” his grieving mother, Marisol Miranda, told The Post on Thursday, adding, “That’s not fair. That’s not fair at all.”
The Rockland Country [sic] resident said that the mayor’s sorrow was misplaced, and should have instead been aimed at her beloved son, a 45-year-old dad of two who worked as a barber when he was stabbed to death.
“I’m not happy with what [Mamdani] did and I need him talking about my son. He was killed,” she said.
Angel Miranda, the victim’s younger brother, agreed: “That’s not right.”
“He could have paid his regards but acknowledged us too,” Miranda, 41, noted. “He should have mentioned us first and then, ‘Sorry the person that did it also has passed away too.’
“At least give us a little heads up and a little gratuity towards us. We lost a family member. You can never replace that. I’m still going through it,” he said.
“It was a slap in the face,” Miranda added.
See? No sympathy at all. You need a communist to find the good in all of us.
There is, at the moment, no clear reason why Woodward died, but perhaps it’s because he hadn’t gotten any exercise from stabbing people recently.
🚨 HOLY CRAP!! Zohran Mamdani is mourning the loss of a m*rderer, and the victim’s family is now FURIOUS
“I need him talking about MY SON. HE WAS KlLLED.”
“WE lost a family member. You can never replace that.”
This is how 3rd worlders act.

Whatever the case, Mamdani clearly has the right idea. If Rikers had been closed down and his hopes for an eventual decarceration agenda pan out, no more killers like Woodward would have to worry about dying in jail.
And who wouldn’t want that as a better future? Sure, more people like Miranda, who was a barber and tattoo artist with two kids, might die. But at least it wouldn’t be in city custody.
