Van Jones Slams Radical Socialists as Dangerous Threat to Democratic Party [WATCH]

Van Jones, the longtime CNN political commentator and self-described progressive, is sounding alarms over the far left’s growing takeover of the Democratic Party.

His stunning rebuke this weekend targeted socialist-backed candidates and activists who he believes are dragging Democrats into dangerous, regressive territory with their extreme views on policing, immigration, and Israel.

In a fiery post on X referencing his Substack column, Jones pleaded for Democrats to wake up to what he sees as self-destructive radicalism spreading within their ranks.

“Yes, we want our Democratic Party to be a big tent. But we don’t need ‘party poopers.’ So stop pooping in the punch bowl and telling us the turds are ice cubes,” he wrote, in a line that perfectly summed up his disgust for the socialist fringe.

Here’s What They’re Not Telling You About Your Retirement

Jones accused members of the Democratic Socialists of America of trying to smuggle in ideas that have nothing to do with traditional American progressivism.

He blasted the leftist movement’s defense of Hamas, its hostility toward law enforcement, and its open-border ideology.

“Supporting Hamas is not progressive. No police, no prisons, no borders is not progressive. Celebrating the murder of Israeli civilians is not progressive. These ideas are regressive,” Jones declared.

This is not some conservative firebrand scolding Democrats from the outside.

Jones served as an environmental adviser under President Obama and has long been embraced by the party’s progressive wing. But lately, even he appears alarmed by what he sees festering within his own base.

He contrasted his version of progressivism, built around policies like criminal justice reform, clean air initiatives, and Medicare for All, with the new brand of extremism creeping into Democrat primaries.

“I’m rooted in progressive ideals and policies: criminal justice reform, Green New Deal, Medicare for All, free education, clean air and water. These are ideas I have fought for my entire adult life,” Jones insisted.

However, he argued the radical left’s agenda has departed entirely from these principles.

Jones mocked the argument that socialism’s modern push is modeled after Nordic-style democracies, which advocates often invoke as a defense.

“If that were true, I might applaud them,” he said.

“But what does universal healthcare have to do with Hamas? With abolishing all law enforcement? With erasing all borders? With treating every wealthy person as a villain? Ideas matter, and these are terrible ideas.”

The socialist agenda Jones blasted has become central to the DSA’s new Workers Deserve More platform, which calls for defunding police, abolishing prisons, erasing ICE, granting amnesty to all illegal aliens, and slashing U.S. support for Israel while endorsing a Palestinian state with Jerusalem as its capital.

In other words, it reads more like a radical manifesto than a serious policy proposal.

Their march through the Democratic Party is not just rhetorical. In recent months, DSA-backed candidates have scored several primary wins.

In Colorado, Melat Kiros knocked off longtime Representative Diana DeGette, while in New York, DSA favorites Claire Valdez and Darializa Avila Chevalier toppled establishment candidates.

State legislatures are seeing similar uprisings. The far left is not just talking anymore; it is taking over ballot lines.

That shift has Democrats like Van Jones rattled. He warned party leaders not to mistake momentum for wisdom.

“Right now, extremists are trying to sneak backwards proposals into our party, hoping mainstream Democrats are too frustrated with MAGA and the Democratic Party establishment to notice. But we see you,” he warned.

In a previous post, Jones had already summed up the internal panic spreading through Democratic circles.

“The Democratic Socialists of America are winning elections, and sending waves of joy and terror through the Democratic Party,” he admitted.

His latest warning sounded more like a plea for intervention before socialists drown out any semblance of moderation left in the party.

Jones is not alone in his alarm. Other prominent Democrats, like Representative Henry Cuellar, have called out the DSA for attempting to “use” their party as a political vessel.

And popular progressive hosts such as those on Pod Save America recently described the socialist gains as a “warning sign” that Democrats could lose their footing with middle America.

The fact that a man like Van Jones, who was once so far to the left he made moderates uneasy, is now accusing fellow liberals of destructive radicalism shows how deeply the Democratic Party is splintering.

Centrist and establishment Democrats see their party being hijacked by ideological zealots whose primary weapon is outrage.

Conservatives, meanwhile, can sit back and take notice of what happens when progressivism eats its own.

Jones’ meltdown is only the latest public sign that Democrats are heading toward a civil war over their identity.

The question is whether voices like his will have any power to stop it before the socialists finish their hostile takeover.
