He even told police at the time that his horrific crimes were part of a so-called cultural practice about young brides, a claim that disgusted both law enforcement and the community.

After serving time, Vang was slated for deportation.

Yet as that day approached, the Democratic governor and Minnesota’s Board of Pardons, which includes Attorney General Keith Ellison and Chief Justice Natalie Hudson, stepped in to wipe his record clean.

This last-minute action kept Vang in the country and left Department of Homeland Security officials stunned.

That political stunt did not stand for long. Secretary of State Marco Rubio intervened, moved quickly to terminate Vang’s legal status, and ensured that Walz’s pardon did not block DHS from carrying out its duty.

In a statement to Fox News Digital, Rubio made it clear that his action was about defending American families from dangerous foreign offenders.

“Just weeks ago, a foreign child rapist was freed to once again endanger America’s children after receiving a pardon from Minnesota Governor Tim Walz,” Rubio said.

“Tue Lue Vang admitted to committing heinous crimes against a ten-year-old girl in Minnesota. He attempted to pay his victim for her silence and dismissed his acts of child abuse as a minor thing.”

Rubio continued:

“Americans should never have to live in fear that foreign sex predators, shielded from deportation by their own elected officials, could endanger them or their children. That is why I terminated his legal status in the United States. Vang has now been removed from our country and will never pose a threat to any American ever again.”

Homeland Security officials were not as diplomatic when describing Walz’s role.

Acting Assistant Secretary Lauren Bis blasted the Minnesota governor’s decision, calling it disgusting that a Democrat leader would fight to keep a convicted foreign child predator in America rather than protect American children.

The statement from DHS reflected growing frustration inside federal agencies that are trying to uphold immigration laws while blue state politicians dismantle them piece by piece.

Critics say Walz’s pardon was an outrageous example of the sanctuary state mentality that prioritizes ideology over safety.

Meanwhile, Walz defended his decision in a bizarre statement, saying Vang had somehow become a “critical member of the community” and even referring to him as a “citizen.”
